Get Involved!

We invite you to get involved with the Academic Research Collaborative (ARC).

Enjoy the Benefits of
Networking with Peers,
Sharing Best Practices, and
Pursuing Professional Development

What Is ARC?
ARC, a coalition of academic, public, and special research libraries throughout the Worcester area, is an active member of the Central Massachusetts Regional Library system. ARC’s mission is to facilitate the sharing of resources and services for the benefit of their collective users and staff.  There are currently 23 members of ARC.

ARC provides a range of benefits for patrons---access to databases, reciprocal borrowing privileges among participating libraries, timely delivery of materials.

Equally important, ARC provides significant opportunities and resources for library staff as well.

How You Can Get Involved
Attend an ARC Interest Group. Each group determines its own agenda and work to address common interests. Currently, there are four Interest Groups; feel free to participate with as many as you wish. These groups are:

Collection Management
For those interested in Technical Services and those involved with collection development.

Archives and Special Collections

For more information about each please see their blog. (Meeting schedule is posted here.)
Don’t see anything that ‘interests’ you? Additional Interest Groups may be formed at the request of any five staff members. Note: CMRLS library staff who are not ARC members are also invited to participate.

Along with Interest Groups, there are a number of ARC Advisory Committees which welcome volunteers:

Communications
Publicizes ARC services, develops opportunities for outreach, facilitates communication among ARC members, and develops content for the ARC web site.

Professional Development
Develops and promotes effective continuing education opportunities.

For more information about ARC please contact Jim Douglas.
