Friends of CMRLS Award Scholarships to Attend a Library Conference
Library conferences are a great way to learn more about your specialty, a chance to meet new colleagues, and an opportunity to be energized by all that’s happening in the library field. If you’d like to attend an upcoming Library conference – MSLA, NELA, MLA, ACRL-NEC, or another one – but your library cannot cover the registration fee or other costs, the Friends of CMRLS can help.
Send a brief email (one or two paragraphs) to CMRLS Friends Liaison Dodie Gaudet at dgaudet@cmrls.org. Explain which conference you’d like to attend, how your attendance will benefit you and your library, and how much it will cost.
Conference attendance will be covered up to $200/person until scholarship funds run out.

You can help provide advocacy and support for “Your Library’s Library” when you become a member of the Friends of CMRLS. Friends of CMRLS will:
- support mini-grants to libraries
- sponsor educational opportunities for library staff
- enhance peer-to-peer networking
The Central Massachusetts Regional Library System (CMRLS) promotes and supports resource sharing, professional development, collaboration, and innovation among all types of libraries in Central Massachusetts. CMRLS services strengthen member libraries and staff, creating a collaborative network essential to a high quality and accessible library services for those who live, work, or study in the region.

CMRLS is an efficient private, non-profit organization. For every dollar spent in FY 2007, CMRLS provided $7.28 in services to help libraries serve their communities, including:
- Millions of magazine articles from thousands of magazines delivered electronically to the library, office or home computer
- Books shipped from the library of one community to readers in another
- Professional training and advice to keep local librarians in the know
