Delivery and the Regional Merger
As we plan for the end of CMRLS services on June 30, 2010 and the beginning of the new Massachusetts Library System (MLS) on July 1, 2010 we want to share some information about delivery.
Effective May 1, 2010 all delivery sorting will transfer to our current delivery contractor, Eastern Carrier.
We anticipate that this will be seamless. The same drivers will be delivering your totes. However, the behind the scenes sorting activities will no longer take place at CMRLS HQ in Shrewsbury.
Things You Need to Know:
1. If you have any problems, please continue to let us know through June 2010. We will be working closely with Eastern Carrier on the transition and we can help them troubleshoot any problems. After July 1 there will be a delivery contact designated by the MLS.
2. We are currently returning items that either have no delivery routing slip in them or they have been misrouted, for example, items directed to URSA. We think you need to know about these so you can work with staff to correct them, since CMRLS staff will no longer be able to decipher them and send them on their way.
3. If you haven't labelled your items going out in delivery you run the risk of losing them. If your library name does not include your town, the barcode might not help someone figure out where to return a misrouted item.
4. Eastern Carrier will communicate route changes and any other important information to both Library Directors and their designated Delivery Contacts. We'll be contacting you to make sure we have those names on file.
